Trip to the Royal Gorge and Bridge

As our last few months are winding to a close, we knew that there were a few more natural wonders that we needed to see here in Colorado So over Spring Break we headed down to Canon City to see the Royal Gorge and Bridge. I know this sounds like loads of excitement, but it was actually quite fun, and scary. The snow makes it look really cold and dramatic, but it wasn't that bad.

This Bridge turns out to be the highest suspension bridge in the world. We walked across it three times. There is also an aerial tram that goes across the gorge, and the worlds steepest incline train. The aerial tram was a little freaky for me. It's back and forth swaying made me wonder if the little cable could really hold that much weight. Also some of the windows were opened, and I worried someone would jump out. I always visualize the worst! I'm just crazy like that.

I guess this area is full of history. A lot of olden day movies were made here, and even a war was fought over who could lay the railroad the fastest and claim the only route through the pass. And as always, the girls loved the carousel ride the best. Anything to ride a horse. The Bridge in the BackgroundThose cables don't look very strong! I love the arrow pointing the way...The incline railwayIvy full of crazy excitement.
