Kyrie was baptized a member of our church on July 31st. It was a special day to celebrate, we even had grandparents come down from Utah to be here on her special day. We also had a surprise visit from her favorite cousin Wesley. This was her only wish, but we told her that he couldn't make it. But a little help from the grandparents, and a really long drive, he was able to sneek in and surprise her. She was so excited, when she woke up to find him there.
Grandma Jan made the dress, I still plan on getting some better photos.....if only it would cool down. Congratulations Kyrie, we are so happy you made this choice.

Feeling more like home every day...

It's been about a month since we have lived here, and I find myself still oraganizing, and cleaning everyday. It seems to go on forever. Ive had a few complaints about the lack of pictures, so even though there are piles everywhere, here ya go...Funny, I said I always hated face houses and this is my second one... Scorpions

We went scorpion hunting at night a little while back. I know sounds pretty tricky, but it wasn't too hard really. There is a variety of scorpion out here that glows in the dark when you shine a black light on them. At first I thought we would have to trek out into the desert and really hunt or dig for them. But turns out they were hiding in the rock walls that we walked along and sat on during the day. It was kinda freaky thinking of how close we were to them in reality without even knowing. The girls loved it, and there were tons to find. Every couple of feet you could shine the flashlight and a couple more would pop right out. They would get mad and flash their pinchers at us, and we would laugh. I didn't think too much about it, I never got too close. I was even getting ready to go do it again, just so I could take a picture to show you. They didn't scare me, until today, when I found one in my house right next to the door handle I was going to open. I was about to freak out. Luckily, I was on the phone to my sister in law (and expert scorpion killer in texas). I probably would have just tried to brush it out the door, to get it out of my house, not thinking. I wasn't even sure if this was one of the poisonous ones or not. Then my sister told me I had to kill it so it wouldn't come back.... I was scared to death that it would come after my kids if I didn't get rid of it. So my sis talked me through all the steps on how to kill it, the easiest being spraying it with bug killer, till it's immobilized then scooping it up with the dust pan, and then flushing it down the toliet. I was hypervenilating the entire time. Eww I hate bugs, the worst part is, I can't relax thinking there might be another in the house somewhere. One things for sure, pest control will be called on Monday. Oh yeah and Kel has been gone over a week on buisness. I hate sleeping alone!
ON the positive side, I finallly got a 50mm lens that I've been wanting forever for my birthday. We went to the zoo today to try it out. Here are a few good pics...

Golden Day!

So much has happened in the last month. Well not anything exciting. Moving organizing a house. It feels like I clean everyday, but nothing gets accomplished. I know I said I would post pics of the house fast, but I'm too embarrassed to show any. Sorry for being such a neat freak. This house will probably never be clean because lily is to the appropriate age where she can make as many messes as she wants, and there's nothing I can do to stop her. Except lock her in a room somewhere, but that's probably not very motherish. Anyways, I promise I will post pics soon. I did want to post though, and say happy happy birthday to my little girl. Sweet Kyrie turns 8 today. It is her golden birthday. We had a blast today, doing whatever she wanted. Playing at pump it up with friends, movies, shopping, eating at the park(warm, but bearable).
She is a sweet girl so full of life. I took this picture today, an thought how happy she would be looking for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and then realized she is my own pot of gold, and how lucky I am to have her. Love you Ky!

Keepin cool

So the Summer has been hot so far.... a good 107 Degrees, and climbing. So I don't want to hear any complaining from y'all up north. I'm holding my breath that we can acclimate fast. It's been interesting trying to keep these girls busy. The toughest part is the girls want to read alot, and we can't get a library card yet. How do you explain to a kid that we don't have an address. Ivy blows through the Disney Fairy book in a day. I had to get kyrie 500 page book, that was a little out of her reading level so she wouldn't read so fast. Books can be expensive even at a used bookstore!

The other thing that we do to pass the heat, is swimming. And the girls are havin fun. Whenever I need to punish them is take away their swimming for the day, and they are miserable! Kyrie used to be quite scared, but has improved so much that yesterday, she was diving down to 8ft to see if she could touch the bottom. She was quite determined until she finally did it. Ivy is a regular little sea monkey. I still make her keep her floaties on because I know how crazy she can be. She's not afraid of anything! That worries me.

Arizona's scenery

It has been a wild and crazy ride the past couple of weeks. We are finally in Arizona, living in temporary housing while our house is being finished. It's been a little crazy trying to keep these kids busy. Sadly we got here just in time for it to get hot! Yesterday broke 100 degrees already. It's not too bad yet, we mostly stay indoors during the afternoon. The morning and evenings are quite cool. The only weird thing is that Arizona does not have daylight savings, so sunrise is at 5:30. I don't really like that. The other thing that worried me when we decided to come here, was the desert landscaping, but I'm happy to say it is quite the opposite of what I expected. The plants may not be lush and green, but they are quite beautiful in their own way. They are starting to grow on me. Take a peek.....Our cute little adobe rentalLots of pokey things down here.
